Are You Better Off Walking?

This is a story Kiera Hess and I produced. We chose the topic of the UT bus system because it is constantly discussed on campus and everyone has different views about its efficiency. This story encompasses opinions regarding the UT bus system and its ability to accommodate students. We interviewed a number of UT students as well as Blanca Juarez, a manager for UT's transportation services. I enjoyed this project because it gave me hands on experience with having to approach pedestrians and ask for interviews on the spot as people were waiting for the bus to come by and pick them up. It was stressful at times, especially when I forgot to click the record button twice and then realized my interview was never recorded. I feel like our story made chronological sense and the natural sounds of the bus really pulls listeners in. I think we could have lowered the natural sounds from the bus so there could be more clarity when listening to the interviewees.
